As you can see, our newsletter the Plan has a new look. But that is not all that is new. In November we brought aboard Jamie and Jeanne’s son Nathan Twining to serve on our staff. Many of you have already met Nate or spoken with him over the telephone. Nathan worked at Wilson Engineering as a civil engineer for the past five years. He has already made significant contributions here through his analytical ability and strong work ethic. Nathan will serve on our staff for five years while learning many aspects of our practice and working toward his CFP marks. If you need anything done quickly and accurately, you can rely on Nate to get it done. Together with Jeanne and Jenn we have a very capable and caring staff that is committed to serve you. And there is more. After twelve years with American Express followed by sixteen years of registration with LPL Financial, we are moving custody of our accounts to TD Ameritrade Institutional (TDA). TDA is a highly regarded firm that serves over 4,000 independent Registered Investment Advisor firms across the country. They appeal to us because of their cost structure and commitment to serve independent fee- only advisory firms that desire the freedom to select excellent technology, research, and compliance from outside sources. The move will accomplish three things: 1) It will lower account expenses 2) It will enhance our technology capabilities 3) It will give us more freedom to create original commentary Expenses will be lowered through the elimination of annual IRA fees, small account fees, special product fees, and inactivity fees. Of more significance is the elimination of all C shares and 12b-1 fees even for very small accounts. These savings are somewhat offset with some new trading fees; but the net result is a reduction in costs. We already compare favorably regarding cost effectiveness, and this change will reduce expenses even further. Look for the new technology enhancements. Our website at www.FinancialPlanInc.com is vastly improved with more content. Your performance reports will contain more data. A new Client Portal will allow you to upload and store your important documents (such as tax returns, wills, insurance policies and powers of attorney) in a secure online vault for viewing from any location by you and your financial, tax, and legal advisors. Expect new content to arrive through the website and through original articles and whitepapers. Jamie is nearing completion on a book that contains his career memoirs, investment concepts and investment philosophy. In order to make the transition we require signed paperwork from every client. If you have not yet heard from us feel free to call in and schedule an appointment. We are here for you with any questions you may have. Thank you helping the staff by getting the paperwork signed!
