James B. Twining, CFP®

James Twining founded Financial Plan in 1996 following many years of frustration working at a brokerage under the “traditional” model of financial planning. He quickly noticed the vast conflicts of interests associated with commission and sales-based “advice” and sought out a new path, one in which he could work alongside his clients in a way that better aligned with his values. This independent model in which the advisors’ success is directly tied to the success of their clients led to steady growth within the Bellingham community, and Financial Plan now serves clients all over the world. Financial Plan has proudly grown over the years based almost exclusively on client referrals. 

James B remains the CEO of Financial Plan and works as a Principal advisor for a select group of high-net-worth clients.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jamie enjoys hosting weekly Sunday dinners with his family and remains involved in his local community and church. If given the option, he will be on the water; either sailing or paddle boarding on Lake Whatcom or snorkeling and lobster fishing in the turquoise waters of the Bahamas.
